Wi-Fi Network Installation – The Montagu Arms
Wi-Fi refresh for grade 2 listed Coaching Inn that dates back to the 17th century.
The Montagu Arms Hotel is set in the picturesque village of Beaulieu, in the heart of the New Forest.
The hotel has 22 bedrooms and a Michelin Star restaurant Monty’s.
In October 2018 Hotality were commissioned to upgrade the Wi-Fi system at the property.
challenge
The current Wi-Fi system was no longer meeting the demands of the guest so needed to be replaced. The environment is challenging as the hotel is a grade II listed building therefore locating suitable cabling routes and keeping the new access point hidden from view yet still positioned for optimum coverage were the biggest challenge on this project.
solution
Hotality designed and deployed a new Wi-Fi system using technology from Cambium Networks. By using the Cambium cnPilot E410 in bedrooms areas and the larger Cambium cnPilot 600 indoor Wave 2 access points in the public areas, we were able to provide full coverage to the property all centrally managed by the by a Cambium cnMaestro Cloud Controller. The Cloud Controller allows us to manage and monitor the Wi-FI network alerting us proactively of any issues. The deployment consisted of 15 Access points in total to provide coverage to the entire site, making use of much of the existing CAT5E cabling wherever possible. New HP Enterprise Switches were installed to link everything together. The property is connected to the internet via a dedicated high bandwidth leased line for a great user experience.
results
The end result is 100% coverage of all bedrooms and all internal public areas which met the brief of the client. The solution does not only provide a great guest internet experience, but also provides secure access to the hotels corporate network and will soon be used for internal voice communications when the phone system upgrade take place later in 2020.
